| What's New at the SAA - March 2004 |
|---|
Spring has almost sprung, and we have a brand new committee at the SAA. As the new Chair, I would like to thank the outgoing Chair, Susan Swan, for having had a very successful two years at the helm. We are delighted that she is still with us as a committee member, and with her many skills she will remain a vital part of the team.
We welcome Mark Cullen as our new Secretary. Mark has recently returned to Edinburgh from London, and has lots of experience in group work. We are delighted to have him in the new line-up. We also welcome the return of Caroline Gerard as Vice-Chair. Caroline is a long-term member of the SAA and an ex-Chair. She has lots of experience in the astrological community, and we look forward to her input. We also welcome Audrey Tennant and David Owen, both long-term members of the Association.
To make room for the new, Steve Stanton (Secretary) and Jacqui Calder (Librarian/Secretary) have stepped down. We thank them both for all the hard work they have put into the Association over the years, and wish them all the best. Thanks go to Suza Schoch, who has also quit.
The remaining committee members are: Christine Gear; Sara Dunkley (Librarian); and Robert Stokes, our Treasurer/Web Master, without whom you would not be reading this! Special circumstances have led us to co-opt Steve Livingston, another very experienced committee member. So as your new Chair, with the help of a great team behind me, I look forward to steering a happy ship into another successful year.
It has been an interesting start to the year, as our first AGM was cancelled due to a technicality. Next year we aim to improve the way by which the AGM is called and business is conducted, and also to make it a real celebration. Thanks to everyone who came along to the extra meeting, which was very well attended.
If you have any suggestions as to what you would like to see happening at the SAA, please feel free to let us know. If you have a favourite topic, or have been doing any research and feel you may like to share it with us by giving a talk, just grab one of the committee and we’ll see what we can do. So, whether you are an old member, a new member or coming to astrology for the first time, we look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks.
One more thing - a little reminder about the AA Conference in Bath this year. If you would like to join the group going from Edinburgh, the early bird discount deadline is the end of March this year, so time is fast running out! Full details can be found at The Astrological Association of Great Britain - a group of six is needed for an additional 15% discount. It is always a wonderful weekend, with much learning and much partying. Contact any of the committee for more details.
