Sep 10 Steve Owens A Tour of the Solar System The SAA welcomes its first ever talk from a professional astronomer! Steve is organising the International Year of Astronomy in Scotland in 2009 and tonight he will taking us on a visually-stunning tour of the planets in our solar system. Not to be missed!
Sep 24 Themed evening Elemental Balance in the Chart Our popular themed evenings provide an opportunity for discussion and a chance to bring along your own chart data. Is your chart all fire? Do you lack air? How does the heavy emphasis or lack of an element in a chart influence the way we assess it? If time allows, discussion will also include some famous charts with a particular elemental imbalance. Facilitator: Mark

Oct 22 Morelle Smith Double Artistry Morelle is a former Chair of the SAA and brings her personal insights as a poet, world traveller and free spirit to her astrology. Tonight she examines the charts and lives of two entangled artists - Pablo Picasso and Francoise Gilot.

Nov 05 Themed evening The Quincunx & Yod The quincunx aspect of 150 degrees is generally regarded as bringing a particular tension to the planets involved. Tonight we consider this and the aspect configuration known as the Yod, or 'Hand of God', which involves two sextiled planets in quincunx to a third. Bring along your chart data or those of friends or relatives to be discussed. If time allows we will also look at the charts of some famous people with noteable quincunxes or even Yods. Nov 19 Anna Estaroth Volcanoes & Astrology Anna is currently the astrologer for 'The Scotsman' newspaper and has practiced as a professional astrologer in Edinburgh for many years. We welcome her back again to share her recent research on the connections between volcanoes and astrology. It promises to be an explosive evening!

Jan 14 Janet Saunders Asteroids The asteroids can provide a wealth of additional detail to chart analysis. Janet is an experienced practitioner and teacher of astrology who uses asteroids as an integral part of her work. Tonight she will be introducing us to the symbolism, mythology and chart applications of the four main asteroids: Ceres, Juno, Pallas and Vesta.
Jan 28 Themed evening Retrograde Planets Our popular themed evenings provide an opportunity for discussion and a chance to bring along your own chart data. How does the retrograde motion of a planet effect our interpretation of it? If time allows, we will look at some famous charts featuring retrograde planets. Facilitator: Sara
