Welcome to the SAA 3d
The Scottish Astrological Association is a body formed in Edinburgh in 1974 to promote a deeper understanding of astrology in Scotland. We organise lectures and discussions every fortnight throughout most of the year. There are library facilities available for books and CDs, and we hold periodic workshops and an annual conference.

The 2009 Autumn / Winter Programme is now ready. Click on the 'Event calendar' menu link for the full programme, or click here for a summarised version. In addition, Anna Estaroth is holding a set of evening workshops on 'Planets and Symbols' on alternate Wednesdays. Click here for the programme.

The SAA would also like to take on the role of publicising astrological or related events in Scotland organised by people or bodies other than the SAA. These will be displayed under 'Non-SAA events' on the main menu. Events run by our sister organisation Aquarius Rising, based in Glasgow, can be found under its link on the main menu. Aquarius Rising's Autumn and Winter Programme for 2009 has now been published. Click on the Aquarius Rising link for further details.

On April 11 this year Susan Boyle brcame on overnight sensation after her performance on ITV's "Britain's Got Talent". Click here for an article on Susan Boyle by Robert P Blaschke. The article was first published in the Major Sky astrological e-Zine, which is published monthly at the New Moon. The SAA's Caroline Gerard, who provided Robert Blaschke with the birth data and longitude and latitude, would like to add that Susan Boyle was in fact born at Bangour Hospital, near Broxburn, 03w34, 55n55, which changes the angles slightly.

And with the activities of MPs in the news recently, we have published two articles by Caroline Gerard on the House of Commons. In The Astrology of the House of Commons1, Caroline looks at the history of the House of Commons since the 13th century. And in Fiddling while Britain scorches: the MPs' expenses scandal2 Caroline delves into the recent goings-on, with particular reference to ex-Speaker Michael Martin.
